The Charter of the French language and its regulations govern the consultation of English-language content.

Registration with a specialized nurse practitioner.

Since April 15, 2024, certain nurse practitioners specialized in primary care can be assigned to persons without a family doctor who are registered with the Québec Family Doctor Finder.

To use Québec Family Doctor Finder, you must:

Not be registered with a family doctor or nurse practitioner specialized in primary care;
Have a valid Health Insurance Card;
Be domiciled in Québec;
Live at the address currently indicated in your file at the Régie. To report a change of address, use the online Service québécois de changement d'adresse This link will open in a new window;
Not live in the Nunavik or Cree Territory of James Bay regions because the health professionals in these regions may not register patients. If you live there, please call your regional health centre (Nunavik: 819 964-2905; Cree Territory of James Bay: 819-855-2744);
Be age 14 or over. A person meeting this requirement may register someone under age 14 or someone who is unable to register him/herself or who prefers not to.

Wait time

The wait time varies depending on the number of registrations in your region and family doctors and nurse practitioners specialized in primary care availability. As soon as you are assigned a health professional, they will contact you.

Updating a registration: contact information and health condition

You must update your registration if your contact information or that of your representative changes. You must also report any changes in your health condition. To do so, proceed in the same way as for a registration. This update will not modify the initial date of your registration.
